ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) A crewmember on a tanker ship is being cared for at Stanford Medical Center after a U.S. Coast helicopter was called in to medevac him from the ship.
A Coast Guard spokesman says a helicopter crew responded to the 729-foot tanker about 11 miles off the coast of Monterey a little after 5 a.m. Friday. The medevac operation came after the crewmember injured his hand in a water-tight door.
The Coast Guard did not know the condition of the crewmember, but said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
