SAN DIEGO (AP) - The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a boat that was possibly sinking off San Diego.
Helicopter and boat crews went looking for the green-and-white vessel after someone on the boat made a collect call to U.S. Customs and Border Protection around 2 p.m. Sunday.
Petty Officer Connie Gawrelli (guh-REHL-lee) said the person said five people were on the boat when it took on water somewhere off the Point Loma neighborhood.
The Coast Guard looked for the boat for about four hours, but suspended the search after being unable to contact the caller for more information and receiving no missing persons report.
Gawrelli said the Coast Guard also issued an urgent broadcast to mariners in the area to look out for the boat, but received no response.
