Dozens of those arrested for their involvement in a major Arroyo Grande cockfighting ring have been sentenced in court.
Fifty-one of the 55 people arrested in the bust appeared in court over the past three days. All were charged with misdemeanors for being spectators at a bird fight.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office says the man originally accused of organizing the event, 52-year-old Raymond Gutierrez, has been sentenced to 18 months probation and two days in county jail.
He is also not allowed to own any fighting birds or cockfighting materials, and must submit to a search and seizure.
