Weather has already make a turn here on the Central Coast but more changes are on the way Tuesday. Areas of drizzle or light rain could develop in advance of the system as soon as tonight or Monday morning but drizzle is a more likely scenario late Monday night into Tuesday morning. More widespread precipitation is expected to move over the region Tuesday afternoon and evening. A threat of showers will continue across much of the region later Tuesday night with a chance of showers continuing into Wednesday mainly in the mountains. Most areas will receive between one tenth and one half inch of rain.

The main impact with this cold storm will be very low snow levels and icy roadways. On Tuesday snow levels will generally range between 3000 and 4000 feet lowering to between 2000 and 2500 feet on Tuesday night. Snow levels could locally fall to 1500 feet in heavier showers or thunderstorms. There will be the potential for 4 to 8 inches of snow above 5000 feet with 2 to 4 inches between 3000 and 5000 feet. In addition there will be the possibility of 1 to 2 inch snowfall accumulations in the Cuyama Valley with better accumulations in the surrounding foothills.

Due to the very low snow levels and high potential for icy roadways there could be impacts across some of the heavily traveled roadways including Interstate 5 from the Grapevine to Santa Clarita valley.

There will be possible thunderstorms across the region mainly Tuesday afternoon and evening. Storms will be capable of producing brief heavy downpours, small hail and gusty winds. In addition conditions will become favorable for possible waterspouts across the coastal waters. In addition beach areas could become impacted by gusty winds and high surf conditions by Tuesday night.
