Colorado high school evacuated after teacher finds explosive device

(KUSA) Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Colorado was evacuated after an explosive device was found on campus Monday.

Police have identified a person of interest and are questioning him. The male is Centaurus student. No charges have been filed at this time.

The device was found near a high-traffic area inside the school around 8:30 a.m. by a teacher. The teacher then took the explosive outside and called police.

Investigators say the explosive was similar to a pipe bomb. It was removed from the campus by a robot at about 11:30 a.m., and the Boulder County bomb squad detonated it a short time later in a nearby dirt construction lot.
