A combination of exercise and statin treatment gives patients with high cholesterol the best chance for survival.
In a decade long study of more than 10,000 patients, researchers found death rates were lowest for those taking statins and who were physically fit; however, exercise was the most important predictor of survival.
The fittest participants had a 60-70% lower risk of death regardless of whether they were taking statins.
