The Conejo Oaks snapped the San Luis Obispo Blues' three-game winning streak with a 7-3 win on Friday in a California Collegiate League game Friday night.
The defending co-league champion Blues fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in CCL action. The Oaks improved to 1-1 in league and avenged a 7-1 loss to the Blues earlier in the week.
Kory Delange out of Nicholls State took the loss for the Blues. He struck out 7, but allowed 4 runs on 8 hits and walked 3. Thomas Cortese allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of relief.
The Oaks struck first in the second inning on a two-run triple from Kevin Minjares. The Blues answered with one run in the bottom half on a run-scoring single from Bryan Peters.
The Oaks extended their lead to 7-1 with two in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
The Blues tallied single runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
Matt Shortall out of UT Arlington went 3 for 3 with a RBI, walk and run scored to lead the Blues out of the cleanup spot.
The Blues were outhit in the game 11-7.
San Luis Obispo opens a six game road trip on Saturday night against Team Vegas.
The San Luis Obispo Rattlers open a homestand Saturday with a doubleheader against the East LA Dodgers. Game one is at 4 pm.
