Congresswoman vists with local senior citizens

Congresswoman Lois Capps visited with some senior residents at the Union Plaza Apartments in Santa Maria this morning.
She was checking up on the lunch program for seniors. The Area Agency on Aging provides funding for the meals. It recently received more than $180,000 in stimulus money to expand its lunch program.
"Seniors who might be isolated, who might not have transportation to get out and get a meal can have a nutritious meal, at least one a day, but also to me, I'm going to see people interacting with each other, said Rep. Lois Capps, a Democrat from the 23rd District.
Union Plaza also works with the Community Action Commission to provide healthy lunches to senior citizens.
