The project that would change the look of downtown Arroyo Grande and has stirred up a lot of controversy is moving forward. Wednesday night, the city council approved a new "Centennial Square" plan.
The original plans were changed because some locals were worried the project would change the historical value of Short Street. At the same time, others had questions whether the "Malt Shop" could also have historic significance. In the end, the council approved the plan four to one.
