County of San Luis Obispo, Sheriff's Department hit with lawsuit

A former sergeant with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department has filed a lawsuit against the department and the county.
Dale Strobridge alleged the county and sheriff's department retaliated against him by firing him.
The papers were filed earlier this month.
Strobridge was fired from his position on February 25, 2011.
On December 13, 2009, he alleged he found some confidential information that was easily accessible on the department's computer network.
In order to keep that as evidence, he copied the information on to his personal thumb drive. Some of that information included, deputy evaluations, as well as employee write ups.
Strobridge told human resources about how easy it was to access the documents. It was then, that an internal investigation against him started for breach of confidentiality, due to Strobridge telling human resources about the easy access.
He also said that he was forced to hand over the thumb drive, which is where all the documents were stored.
In the papers, filed on March 13, he listed Patrick Hedges, the former San Luis Obispo County Sheriff, as a defendant; as well as, Sheriff Ian Parkinson, and Tami Douglas-Schatz, the county's human resources director.
Strobridge alleged that this investigation was in retaliation against him.
KSBY reached out to Strobridge, as well as the county and sheriff's department Tuesday, but has not heard back.
