Crews respond to 2 Portland white powder scares

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Emergency crews have responded in Portland to two envelopes containing white powder that were found at the Portland International Airport and a downtown Hilton Hotel.
The airport powder was ruled harmless. A hazardous materials team was checking the powder found at the hotel. Both envelopes were found Wednesday evening.
FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele says a preliminary test of the powder found at the Port of Portland headquarters building at the airport found it contained nothing hazardous.
Port of Portland spokesman Josh Thomas tells The Oregonian no airline service was disrupted and no one was hurt. The headquarters building was temporarily evacuated.
Portland police Lt. Robert King says some people were isolated at the hotel while the powder there was being checked.
On Tuesday, a mailroom at the Lloyd Center Mall was evacuated after a white powder envelope was found there. That powder was harmless.
