Cuesta Grade accident leads to 3-hour journey for some commuters tonight

KSBY's Bill Halter was among the thousands of people who were late arriving somewhere tonight because of an accident involving a semi-truck on the Cuesta Grade. The accident happened shortly after two this afternoon in the Southbound lanes of highway 101 at Reservoir Canyon Road, but traffic was slow-going in both directions because people were slowing to check out the wreckage.

"It took me almost three hours to drive from Templeton to the KSBY studio in San Luis Obispo." said Halter who says he was worried about running out of gas. "That drive usually takes me about 25 minutes. It was pretty brutal, but people were patient and well-behaved."

The truck was carrying produce which spilled into traffic. Crews are still on the scene trying to clear things up.
