The Cuesta College women's basketball team opens an important week by climbing in the state and regional coaches polls.

The Lady Cougars entered the State poll at #19 and jumped one spot to 11th in the Southern California Regional poll. They were the final regular season polls of the year.

Cuesta is 19-9 overall and 7-2 in Western State Conference play. The Cougars host 26-3 Ventura Saturday at 7pm with a chance to share the league title with a win in the regular season finale. Ventura is 8-1 in conference and ranked #2 in both the state and regional polls.

The Cuesta women have already secured their first playoff spot since 2008 and are in contention for a piece of the program's first league title since 1982.

Cuesta lost at Ventura 72-56 earlier this season.
