We now know the name of the woman killed in a car crash near San Miguel Thursday night.
The California Highway Patrol has identified the woman as 19-year-old Sahel Heydari of Cupertino.
The CHP says Heydari was traveling northbound on Highway 101 just north of San Miguel when she lost control and hit a steel light pole.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, 18-year-old Alyssa Williams of Santa Clara, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Twin Cities Hospital.
CHP says speed and worn tires may have contributed to the accident. They say the roadway was wet from the previous heavy rain.
The CHP says Heydari and Williams were attending college in the Santa Barbara area, and were going home after completing finals.
