Current mayor of Paso Robles will not seek another term

Paso Robles Mayor Duane Picanco says he'd like to serve the city for another term, but not as mayor.

He announced his candidacy for city council on Wednesday.

Picanco has served on the city council for 24 years and is currently in his fifth term as mayor.

"I've decided it's time for a new voice leading our great city forward and I believe there are many partially finished projects that still require the background and knowledge and experience I possess," he said.

Picanco says serving on the city council will allow him to continue to serve the city but also spend more time with his family.
