Reigning Los Padres League MVP Courtney Cuzick struck out 14 Eagles in a complete game shutout in Nipomo softball's 6-0 season-opening win over Arroyo Grande on Tuesday.
Cuzick, who's committed to Penn, allowed just 3 hits and walked zero in the victory.
The Titans collected 11 hits in the win. Ashley Ruiz, Gianna Abatti, Abby Trismen and Vanessa Davis had two hits and 1 RBI apiece. Trismen added 2 stolen bases. Selina Delfin collected one hit and drove in two.
Nipomo scored one run in the first and added 3 more in the second inning to build a commanding 4-0 lead.
The Titans play at Coast Union on Friday, while Arroyo Grande hosts Cabrillo. Both games start at 4 pm.
