The decision on where Sunni Jackson will be placed has been made, according to court officials. Tuesday, Jackson was committed to the Department of State Hospitals in Patton.
Jackson was charged with murdering her 61-year-old mother back in April of 2012, but was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
An autopsy found Jackson's mother had been stabbed several times.
Three doctors evaluated Jackson, and they all agreed she was mentally insane at the time of the murder.
Tuesday's decision comes after she was referred to a mental health director for a treatment plan late last year.
She'll spend at least 180 days at Patton State Hospital but could be there for the rest of her life if doctors do not believe her sanity has been restored.
