Drivers traveling late at night on Highway 101 through Atascadero this week may encounter some slow downs or road closures, as Caltrans crews continue work on the Highway 101 Atascadero Rehabilitation Project.
Beginning Monday night and ending Friday morning, lane closures are expected to occur in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 from the Highway 58 exit to Rosario Ave. The closures begin at 7:00p.m. and end at 6:00a.m., but Caltrans says lanes could be closed until noon on some days.
Meantime, bridge work is scheduled on the southbound lanes of Highway 101 from the Highway 58 exit to Santa Margarita Creek from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. each day this week.
There's also work being done on from the Highway 101/41 interchange to Traffic Way this week. That work will be performed from 7:00p.m. to 6:00a.m. each day. For that part of the project, there will be partial closures of the north and southbound on and off-ramps.
The entire Highway 101 Atascadero Rehabilitation Project includes repaving 11 miles of Highway 101 from north of the Cuesta Grade to Traffic Way. Caltrans is also expected to widen bridges at Santa Margarita Creek, San Diego Rd, Santa Rosa Rd, Curbaril Ave, Highway 41 and Traffic Way.
The entire project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2012.
