LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jury deliberations in the public corruption trial of six former officials of the Los Angeles County city of Bell have been interrupted because of a juror's illness.
Court officials say the juror reported for duty Tuesday but a note sent to the judge said the juror was too ill to deliberate.
The panel was dismissed for the day. It's uncertain if talks will resume Wednesday.
Bell's former mayor and five former City Council members are charged with misappropriation of public funds by paying themselves excessive salaries. They say they worked long hours and earned up to $100,000 salaries.
The current jury has deliberated since Feb. 28, after one juror on the original panel was dismissed on its fifth day of talks and deliberations had to start over with a replacement.
