A program dedicated to serving seniors free, nutritious lunches is forced to expand.

The Senior Nutrition Program offers free lunches to seniors in San Luis Obispo County on a daily basis.

Demand is so great at its nine locations, a new site was recently opened at United Church of Christ in the 11-thousand block of Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo.

The main kitchen prepares more than 600 meals a day.

36,000 meals were served to more than 700 seniors last year and more than 120,00 meals were home-delivered to 900 seniors.

It not only keeps them healthy, but also gives them a chance to socialize.

Free meals are served to seniors who sign up for the program and who are at least 60-years-old.

Donations and volunteers are always needed.
