Deonte Williams named FCS All-American by Sports Network

Cal Poly slotback Deonte Williams was named to his second All-America Team on Monday. The senior earned a spot on the Sports Network FCS All-America Second Team Offense on Monday.

Williams rushed for 1,506 yards and 12 touchdowns. He surpassed the 100-yard mark in rushing a school record 10 times in 12 games this season, including a season-high 188 yards against UC Davis. Deonte is the 15th Mustang to crack the 1,000 yard mark and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. He ranks #2 all-time on Cal Poly's all-time single season list falling 72 yards short of James Noble's school record of 1,578 yards in 13 games in 2005.

Williams finished 16th in the Walter Payton Award voting, which is given annually by the Sports Network to the most outstanding player in the FCS. He was one of 20 finalists nationwide. Williams also earned a spot on the Second Team by Beyond Sports Network, while senior linebacker Kennith Jackson was a Third Team pick.

It marks the third-straight season a Mustang has earned a spot on the Sports Network FCS All-America Team. Asa Jackson was a Third Team pick in 2010 and 2011. Ramses Barden landed on the First Team and Stephen Field was on the Second Team in 2008.
