Deputies arrest third person allegedly involved in illegal prescription drug sales

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a third person they say was involved in illegal prescription drug sales in Isla Vista. At 5 p.m. Friday, Deputies arrested 23-year-old Jacob Loureiro. They served a search warrant at his apartment in the 6500 block of Seville Road. Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Enforcement investigators had been monitoring Loureiro for several weeks. During the apartment search, detectives say they found evidence that Loureiro was selling several types of prescription medications to people in the Isla Vista community. They also found evidence that he was selling marijuana, and detectives say he had a shotgun, handgun, a law enforcement style collapsible baton, and brass knuckles. They say the guns were obtained lawfully, but they're still investigating the weapons. Loureiro was arrested and booked in the Santa Barbara County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, and possession of a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $30,000. Earlier this week, Deputies also arrested two other people in Isla Vista. One of them allegedly sold 1,000 Xanax pills to an undercover officer. Deputies say the two of them were in possession of about 2,300 Xanax pills total.
