Deputies call off search for a man carrying a machete

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's office has called off the search for the man on the run with a machete.

Deputies received a call around 9:50 Friday morning after a report of a man with a machete. When deputies arrived on scene they discovered a burglary had taken place at a building in the 1500 block of Templeton Road.

Deputies saw the male subject enter the river bed heading in the direction of the Home Depot center in Atascadero.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office had deputies, K9 units, and a CHP helicopter on scene trying to locate him. The subject could not be located and the search was discontinued.

The Sheriff's office is asking residents to take normal precautions and lock their doors.

The subject is being described as a male subject with a military type haircut. He is approximately 5'8" or 5'9" with a stocky build. He is described as having a reddish skin coloring. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a sweatshirt and carrying a 10 inch machete.
