The number of diabetes patients experiencing complications has gone down significantly.
Experts at the CDC found heart problems and deaths from high blood sugar went down nearly 60 percent among Type 2 diabetics over the past 20 years.
Amputations went down by half, and cases of end-stage kidney failure dropped by a third.
Experts say this shows we're doing a better job of spotting and treating potential complications, but the number of people with diabetes has tripled in the past 20 years, so there is still a lot of work to be done.
