The Feline Network hosts an adoption event every Saturday at the Petco in the Madonna Plaza Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. It costs $60 to adopt one cat and $80 for two. This weekend, the organization is reducing the cost of black cat adoptions to just $30. "We've had an abundance of black kittens, and they tend to get passed over just because people will choose the more colorful cats, so we have some black kittens that have been here maybe three or four months, and they're bigger, but they still need homes and make wonderful pets," said Christine Collie, a Board Member and Founder of the Feline Network. The organization was founded in 2002. "We saw the need for spaying and neutering cats, especially in the south county and the city of San Luis Obispo, so we do a lot of spaying and neutering of stray cats and also feral cats," said Collie. The Feline Network has cats and kittens available for adoption every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In Santa Barbara County, the Santa Maria and Santa Barbara Animal Services shelters are providing free cat adoptions. The cats must be six months or older. The shelters are open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
