Most of us are familiar with the Hawaiian dance "The Hula". But there is a lot of history and story behind the graceful movements and music that are apart of it. I got out and about with members of the Santa Maria Hula club and got my hula groove on in an impromptu lesson in Shell Beach recently. You'll see the story next Tuesday on "Out and About".
But tomorrow night members of the Santa Maria Hula club "Hoapili Pomaika'i Aloha" are sponsoring a movie at Cal Poly that will not only educate you on that history of hula, but likely inspire you a bit with the story, music and message.
The movie is called Haumana at it's being shown at the Alex and Faye Spanos Theater at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 and there will be some pre-screening entertainment.
