A Coast Guard helicopter is searching the waters for a boater in distress off the Ventura coast, about 30 miles west of Pt. Dume.

Officials received a mayday call at 2:09 a.m. The call stated, "This is King Fisher I, mayday, mayday, mayday, come back Coast Guard." The Coast Guard did not have any other communication with the boater after the call.

A rescue helicopter was sent out after the call, but the could not locate the boat. A second first-light search is currently taking place.

If anyone has any information about the King Fisher I, please contact the U.S. Coast Guard immediately at 310-521-3801.
