DMV bringing back vintage license plate styles

The California DMV has announced it is taking pre-orders for a new license plate program offering vehicle owners the chance to buy replicas of California license plate designs issued in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's.
The legacy license plates can be ordered for any automobile, commercial vehicle, motorcycle or trailer for $50.
The state will issue the plates when it receives 7,500 applications for each particular style. The number must be reached by January 1, 2015. If it is not reached, applicants will get refunds.
