San Luis Obispo Police arrested a Vallejo man Wednesday after they say DNA evidence connected him to a January stabbing.

Police say Trevor Tice, 27, of Atasacadero was stabbed in the early morning hours of January 20 after a fight near the intersection of Broad and Monterey Streets in San Luis Obispo. Tice was found bleeding uncontrollably from his arm. Police say Zachary Lerno, 26, of Atascadero was also stabbed in the head.

Investigators sent the knife used in the stabbing to a lab for DNA testing. Results received in August showed the knife contained DNA from Austin Sarna, 21, of Vallejo. Witnesses and victims also identified Sarna in a photo lineup.

On Wednesday, police traveled to Vallejo where they arrested Sarna. He was brought back to San Luis Obispo and booked into county jail.
