Even if you have just used the break room sink to wash your hands they could be dirty by the time you leave, according to a new study.
Researchers at Kimberly-Clark, one the largest personal care product companies, swabbed nearly five thousand surfaces in several office buildings.
They found three out of four break room sinks were dirty and in need of a good cleaning. Microwave handles, refrigerator handles, keyboards and vending machine buttons were also very dirty.
The study did not look for specific germs, but experts said it is likely these surfaces are teeming with bacteria.
Experts said it is important to wash your hands before eating, especially if you have used a communal space to heat up your lunch or make coffee.
