The Los Angeles Dodgers and Time Warner Cable announced a cable television rights partnership to create a new regional sports network, SportsNet LA, on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not announced, but media reports suggest it could be worth between $7 to $8 billion over 20 to 25 years.
The team's current rights deal with Fox expires after the 2013 season. It pays about $40 million each year to the Dodgers. The new deal, which starts for the 2014 season, would be worth at least $280 million annually.
The Dodgers-TWC deal still needs to be approved by Major League Baseball.
Time Warner Cable signed the Lakers to a 20 year deal for $3 billion last season.
