Some Central Coast school kids received the supplies donated to the Stuff the Bus campaign.
KSBY News teamed up with the United Way and other businesses to collect the supplies. People donated to buses parked in Santa Maria, Lompoc, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Arroyo Grande.
"We're estimating about $31,000 of school supplies," said Rachel Sementina of the United Way in San Luis Obispo County. "That includes 300 backpacks, 800 boxes of crayons, and almost 2,000 boxes of pencils."
In Santa Barbara County the United Way says more than 4,000 items were donated in Santa Maria and 5,000 items in Lompoc.
