Don't worry if you're seeing smoke in the sky above San Luis Obispo

Have no worries if you're traveling through San Luis Obispo and see smoke rising from the west side of the city Friday. The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department is conducting what it calls a pre-burning of three cars in the Embassy Suites parking lot. That lot is easily visible from Highway 101. The burns will continue at various times throughout the day.
Fire officials say this burning is in preparation for next week's California Conference of Arson Investigators. Student arson investigators from around the state will come to town figure out what caused each of those cars to be destroyed.
