South Africa's Oscar Pistorius qualified for the 400-meter men's semifinals on Saturday in London. The 25 year old, four-time Paralympic gold medal winner is the first double-amputee to compete at the Olympics. He runs on prosthetic legs called Flex-Foot Cheetahs.
Pistorius, nicknamed "Bladerunner" coasted at the end of the race for a second place finish in his heat. Pistorius had the 16th best time out of the 47 runners who finished their heats. 24 sprinters advanced to the semi-finals. The semifinals are on Sunday with the top eight finishers advancing to the finals on Monday.
Pistorius had amputation surgery when he was 11 months old, he received his first pair of prosthetic legs at 17 months.
