A brush fire near Lompoc caused road closures and traffic delays for part of the afternoon on Saturday.

The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 1 near the Allan Hancock College campus there.

Officials say downed power lines sparked the blaze after a power pole broke.

They say the lines went down across the highway, causing both sides to be shut down for a few hours.

They say a motor home did get caught up in the lines when they fell, but the vehicle was not damaged.

Officials say the fire burned less than a quarter acre and no injuries were reported.

Investigators are working to determine why the power pole broke.
