A man trashed a San Luis Obispo salon tuesday night, causing thousands of dollars in damage and is behind bars that's according to San Luis Obispo Police.
Police told KSBY News Samuel Dabill, 33, threw himself against several windows of stores on Marsh Street in downtown San Luis Obispo.
He then tried to get into a woman's car, but police said she was able to push him out.
Police said he then went into Bluebird Salon on Marsh Street and threw a glass shelf full of hair products onto the floor.
"Sammy called me crying saying the salon has been destroyed and as you can see the damages were pretty extensive," said Ariel Shannon, the owner of Bluebird Salon, Wednesday.
"I see this crazy guy throwing the planter down, and I thought oh no big deal that happens all the time with drunk college kids, and then he looked inside and started yelling," said Sammy Williams, a stylist at Bluebird.
"There were two clients here when it happened and he chased all the girls out the back door and chased one of the clients to her car and tried to get into the car with her, a civilian was able to tackle him until the police arrived," said Shannon.
"That was probably the scariest moment of my life, I didn't know what to do except to run," said Williams.
"The police say he was high on bath salts," said Shannon.
"He looked very mean and scary. Kind of like he wanted to attack us," said Sammy.
Witnesses followed Dabill out of the salon and alerted police of his location.
Dabill is booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail for burglary, false imprisonment, and felon vandalism. His bail is set at $20,000.
"We were here until about midnight last night, we were lucky enough to have some friends stop by and help us clean for several hours," said Shannon. "Luckily no one was hurt, and it's just stuff, and we are trying to make the best of it."
The owner of the salon has asked her employees to lock the door when they are working alone at night, and some of stylists plan to carry pepper spray.
Bath salts is the name for a drug that has sparked thousands of calls to poison centers across the United States over the last year, it causes paranoia and hallucinations.
The salon is actually starting a "say no to bath salts" campaign. Any client who comes in and says no to bath salts, gets a 10% discount on products.
