Some Pismo Beach residents got an unexpected wake up call when a car slammed into their home in the 100 block of El Viento around 9:00 this morning.
Pismo Beach police officers say it appears the driver was speeding, and may have been using some sort of chemical inhalant while he was driving.
The driver had only minor injuries.
Damage to the home, and surrounding homes, is in the thousands of dollars.
Officers say the driver struck a fence, gas line, electrical box, and finally the garage of a home. Officers say the woman who lived in that home had been staining furniture in her garage, but had gone into the kitchen minutes before the crash. She was not hurt.
