Drivers may face delays Thursday because of cycling event

A number of local roads will be impacted by Stage 4 of the Tour of California on Thursday.

Cyclists take off from the Pismo Beach Pier at 11:45 a.m. and are expected to cross the finish line at the beach on East Cabrillo Boulevard in Santa Barbara around 3:45 p.m.

In the Five Cities area, the following roads will be affected: Pomeroy, Cypress, Price Canyon Road, Highway 227, Valley Road, Fair Oaks Avenue, Traffic Way, Branch Street, and Corbett Canyon.

Cyclists will also take Los Berros Road to Thompson Avenue through Nipomo.

In the Santa Maria area, the following roads will be affected: Bull Canyon Road, Panther Drive, East Main Street, and Philbric Road.

Cyclists will then take Foxen Canyon Road to Highway 154. Drivers should use Highway 101 as an alternate to Highway 154.

In Santa Barbara, the following roads will be affected: Modoc Road, Las Positas Road, Cliff Drive, Meigs Road, Shoreline Drive, and Cabrillo Boulevard.

Most road closures are temporary and are lifted as soon as the riders pass.
