Duffy only lasts four innings in first start of the season

Cabrillo High School graduate Danny Duffy only allowed 1 run but he took the loss against Detroit. Duffy was moved from the bullpen to the starting rotation after Bruce Chen was placed on the disabled list by Kansas City. Duffy allowed 2 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.

The Royals were down 1-0 in the 5th inning when he left but Kansas City ended up losing 9-2.

Duffy drops to 1-2, his ERA for the season is now 2.19 in 12 1/3 innings.

The lefthander is in his fourth Major League season, he's set to start again on Thursday at Seattle.
