A DUI checkpoint is scheduled in Santa Maria Saturday night.
Santa Maria Police will be at the checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
They say announcing DUI checkpoints helps reduce alcohol related car accidents by an average of 20%.
Over the past three years, there have been 518 DUI collisions in Santa Maria, resulting in three deaths.
