The Arroyo Grande High boys golf team climbed to the top of the overall PAC 7 League standings on Thursday by taking the final league tournament that Paso Robles High hosted at Hunter Ranch Golf Course.
The Eagles shot a combined 396 to edge Atascadero by four strokes. Righetti, which entered the tournament in first place, finished third with 407. San Luis Obispo finished fourth at 415, followed by St. Joseph (432), Paso Robles (475) and Pioneer Valley (506).
Arroyo Grande received 7 points in the league standing to overtake Righetti by two points. The Warriors received 4 points for their third place finish on Thursday.
Atascadero's Brandon Vail, San Luis Obispo's Grady Smith and St. Joseph's Tom Brennacher medaled with identical scores of 75.
The Eagles and Warriors will battle for the title next Tuesday at the league finals at Rancho Maria, which is Righetti's home course. The winner of the league finals receives three more points than the second place team. So if Righetti wins next Tuesday, it would edge Arroyo Grande in the overall standings by one point. A win for the Eagles next week would further cement their place at the top.
Atascadero enters the league final in third place, followed by San Luis Obispo.
