The Arroyo Grande High girls tennis team dominated La Reina 17-1 in the first round of the Division 3 CIF playoffs on Wednesday. The Eagles play at Oakwood in North Hollwood on Friday in the second round.
The three-time reigning Pac 7 League champions improved to 17-1 on the season. The Eagles are seeded #2 in the postseason. They advanced to the quarterfinals last season.
Arroyo Grande dominated the singles portion and won all nine sets. Sophie Whittle and Lauren Hayashi won their two sets 6-0. Alex Mero won her three singles sets 6-0. Christa Osumi and Elizabeth Mero subbed in the final round and picked up victories 6-4 and 6-3.
AG took 8 of 9 doubles sets. Alexis Flood and Chelsea Pudwill won all three of their sets 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2. Amber Domako and Zoe Miller won their set 6-0, while Melina Rodgers and Joanne Phung won 2 of their three sets in doubles action.
