Early morning shooting leaves one man wounded

Santa Barbara police are investigating an early morning shooting in the lower East side of the city.

Detectives say at around 1:53a.m. Thursday morning, Police Dispatch received several calls of gunshots heard in the area. Minutes later, a 16-year-old male called to report being shot in the arm. Police found the victim walking near the corner of Canada and Cacique Streets.

He was taken to Cottage Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm.

Detectives are investigating the shooting and haven't determined if it is gang related.
