An East Coast mom says she is bringing the world's first biodegradable beach toys to the Central Coast.

The owner of Zoe b Organic stopped at Whiz Kids in San Luis Obispo Wednesday morning. She says the beach toys are made from corn sugar so it takes just two to three years for them to biodegrade, should they be left in the ocean or soil. That is compared to regular plastic which takes about 500 years to break down.

"We do a lot of trash and treasure hunts with my kids on the beach, we are on the East Coast, and I pick up a lot of stray shovels and plastic and I thought, there must be a better way," said Valerie Lecoeur, who owns Zoe b Organic.

The toys are BPA free and made in the U.S. They are designed for kids 18 months and older.
