A new study suggests when you eat is as important as what you eat, if you're trying to lose weight.

Harvard researchers studied a group of people enrolled in a weight loss program in Spain, where the largest meal of the day is typically eaten at lunch.

Although everyone ate the same number of calories, those who had lunch before 3:00 PM lost an average of 22 pounds in 20 weeks, while late lunchers only lost 17 pounds.

Experts say Americans who eat dinner later in the evening may have a harder time losing weight, but admit more research needed.

Researchers believe the body may process glucose differently throughout the day and the timing of meals may affect the function of liver and fat cells.
