Edwards Air Force Base officials confirm testing involving F35 and F16 fighter jets is being conducted off the coast of California, likely the cause of some rumbling and shaking in northern San Luis Obispo County on Monday afternoon.
Base officials say testing is conducted in the Pacific Test Range year-round, but the cooler air during the fall and winter makes it more likely that sonic booms will be heard on land.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there were no earthquakes recorded in the Central Coast area as of 3:00 pm on Monday.
