The Great Pumpkin Contest

Eek! We chopped off our first pumpkin, we have a giant pumpkin growing like mad!

It's time to cut off the smaller pumpkin on vine #1!

As you can see we have two pumpkins about the size of volleyballs, but one is definately larger than the other.

"It's a beauty!" Dr. Joe Sabol said with his wonderful enthusiasm! And it is! We keep the pumpkin covered with a towel so it won't burn in the sunshine, and in turn we hope the pumpkin won't crack later on. Another trick we learned from Joe.

He had a lot of tricks up his sleeve!

If you go to and check out some of the photos on that site you will see a lot of gardeners who have pop-up tents or tarps over their pumpkins, so you can do that too.

We are on our way!
