We could find out how air pollution control officials will deal with air quality problems on the Nipomo Mesa at a meeting Wednesday.
A study was recently done to find out what's contributing to the poor air quality of the Nipomo Mesa. The Air Quality Control Board conducted the study over a 12-month period, using air monitoring and sampling technologies to measure particulate matters in the air. The report says particulate matter on the Nipomo Mesa exceeds state standards a quarter of that time, and it mostly consists of fine sand from the Oceano Dunes. It found that ATV use at the Dunes was a major factor of the pollution.
The Air Pollution Control District board has spent the past three months brainstorming ideas to strengthen the air quality there, and is expected to present its ideas at a meeting Wednesday morning.
The district meeting begins at 9:00a.m. at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center on Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo.

Even if they close the dunes to vehicles you are still going to have sand blowing inland. Since when has "particulate matter", i.e. SAND, been a pollutant?
Vehicles stir up probably 1% of the airborne particles in that area, the rest is wind blown. What are they going to do, remove all the sand? Put up a wind break in the ocean? All this to make some area home owners happy?
Reminds me of Santa Maria about 20 years ago. There was a cattle feed lot on N. Blosser. Well, some genius developer built a bunch of houses across from it, and guess what? The home owners got all pissed off and managed to force the owner of the feed lot to move because the smell was disturbing them. The Mob Rules no matter how unfair.
And joe- I think you are the Red Neck. You can't spell, your syntax is all messed up, and no one can make any sense of your last sentence. Don't drink the bohng water.
