A caregiver was arrested Wednesday after Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies say she stole thousands of dollars from an 88-year-old Goleta woman.
Sheriff's deputies say the victim's accountant reported 38-year-old Christina Dee Bailon of Lompoc may have been stealing from the elderly woman.
After an investigation, detectives say they have the evidence to prove it. They say over a two month period, Bailon stole unused checks from the victim's accounts at two separate banks, and cashed more than a dozen of them for more than $10,000. Bailon was charged with commercial burglary, forgery, and financial elder abuse.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who thinks they may also have been a victim.
