SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Police say a man was electrocuted after trying to steal wires at a Southern California Edison substation, which caused a power outage to about 14,000 utility customers in San Bernardino.
Lt. Mike Madden said officers and emergency responders found the man on fire when they responded to calls about trouble at the facility early Saturday.
Investigators believe the man in his 20s cut some wires and was shocked by as much as 33,000 volts. He was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday evening.
